Description

This course is designed to develop the leadership skills necessary for Project Managers to better lead their people and their projects to success.  Through a series of exercises and assessments, participants’ individual communication and leadership preferences will be identified, so that these can be understood and turned into strengths in getting the most from their project teams.

This course is designed for new and experienced Project Managers looking to develop new skills and strategies to motivate, inspire, and truly lead others to succeed, while constantly improving their own skills and ability to lead.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of Leadership for Project Managers, participants will be able to:

  • Identify individual leadership strengths and preferences
  • Describe leadership styles
  • Interact with different personalities
  • Organize project teams
  • Hire a high-performing candidate
  • Articulate a unit’s mission, vision, and goals
  • Use listening techniques and ask probing questions
  • Conduct effective meetings
  • Negotiate a conflict situation
  • Apply a scientific approach to problem solving
  • Delegate tasks to improve efficiency
  • Motivate and coach team members for enhanced performance
  • Implement a recognition and discipline system
  • Evaluate and address team member performance
  • Handle obstacles to effective time management
  • Assess personal effectiveness as a project manager
