Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Sonographers are highly-skilled medical professionals who work directly with patients to perform non-invasive imaging tests and procedures, providing physicians with diagnostic information about various systems of the body.  Whether detecting a blood clot, evidence of cancer, seeing the signs of a stroke, or monitoring an infant in the womb, Sonographers are key members of a medical team.

UMBC Training Centers offers one of the area's most highly regarded, accredited programs in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.  Our program offers there separate concentrations of study - Cardiac, General, and Vascular.  The program is a full-time (day), accelerated, non-degree program that takes 13.5 months to complete.

Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) Exam Preparation

This weekend program prepares experienced ultrasound professionals for the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) examination. Participants must already be credentialed as a registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS or RCS) for entry into the program.

Over a period of twelve weekends, participants will learn arterial Doppler and duplex, carotid duplex, upper, and lower extremity venous exams through lecture and hands-on experience in the UMBC Sonography scan lab.  Upon completion of this program, participants will have the information needed to sit for the Vascular Technology registry exam.
