UMBCTransit can arrange or help with charter services geared to meet the needs of our campus and USM clients.

UMBC Vehicles and Drivers
Transportation Services maintains a fleet of 17 vehicles. During the week these vehicles occasionally are available for short, local charters. A greater number of longer charters are possible over weekends when fewer shuttle routes are in operation.

Our roster of drivers, however, consists only of our regular and back-up shuttle staff. Requests for charter services are posted as quickly as possible. Drivers have the opportunity to sign up for posted charters as their work and personal schedules allow. Consequently, UMBC Transit cannot accommodate all charter requests. When such a situation arises, we will contact local charter bus companies to help arrange for service if sponsors so desire.

Let us help you build a successful event!

Rates
Our rates are based on an operating cost per mile, covering fuel and maintenance, and an hourly charge, covering wages and administrative costs. High fuel costs recently resulted in a mileage rate increase to $3.00 per mile beyond the first thirty miles. The hourly rate is $72. We thank the many campus departments that continue to take advantage of our charter services and we pledge to do our best to keep costs at minimal levels. Questions or comments can be directed to John Flister at flister@umbc.edu.
