DANC
101 - Dance Appreication - (New) The UGC discussed Danc 101 and tabled
the course pending some clarification. 1. The UGC requests that you submit
a syllabi that indicate weekly readings and assignments. The one that the
department provided list only broad topics. There is a text book listed,
and a few incomplete citations to articles - the committee would like for
the department to update this information. 2. The UGC would like to know
the specific weight for grading, ie for how much of the grade do the exams
and the response paper count? 3. The committee would like for the instructor
to suggest some examples of the kind of public performance students will
attend? Updated

Minor
in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology - (Proposed Minor) - The
UGC discussed the proposed Minor in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
The UGC tabled the proposals because it lacked letters of support from the
various department involved in the proposal, ie. the chairs of the departments,
Math, CMSC, and Chem, whose courses are part of the minor. The UGC is also
requesting that the department reflect BIOL 295 in the proposal since it
has been approved.

CHEM
455 - Introduction to Biomedical Chemistry - (Change: Prerequisite)
- The UGC discussed the proposed change to CHEM 455 and tabled the request
pending further information. The UGC understands the department wants
to drop Biology 100 because it won't be offered anymore, but this puzzles
the committee because this is not a sound pedagogical reason. The UGC
wanted several questions answered before approving the course. 1. If students
needed the course before, why won't they need it anymore now? 2. Is
there another course that could be substituted for BIOL 100?

Entrepreneurship
and Innovation Minor - (Proposed Minor) - Drs. Lindenmeyer and
LaCourse attended the UGC meeting and discussed the minor. The UGC
voiced it's concern regarding that the minor is not in a academic
department but it was explained by Dr. Lindenmeyer and Dr. LaCourse
how the minor would be managed. The minor will remain tabled and
the UGC will continue to discuss the minor and invite Dr. Lindemeyer
and Dr. LaCourse back for more discussions. (Letter of Support
