Insurance

All UMBC students are strongly encouraged to carry health insurance since unexpected medical expenses could jeopardize your ability to complete your studies here at UMBC. UMBC sponsors a health insurance policy which is available to all UMBC students who are enrolled in 6 or more credit hours.

Our current policy is through Aetna Student Health. An overview of the policy is available.

Be sure to check with your insurance company to find out whether or not they will cover services provided at UHS. We are a participating provider with several insurance companies. Please call our Insurance Specialist at 410-455-1556 to determine whether or not UHS participates with your plan.

Domestic Students

In addition to the standard Student Health Insurance Plan, Aetna Student Health also offers a Dental Discount Plan, a Dental Insurance Plan and additional major medical coverage at additional cost through online enrollment. Please read the information carefully to be sure you are purchasing exactly what you want.

To enroll

1. Go to www.aetnastudenthealth.com.
   
2. Click on the Student then Find Your School
   
3. Put in policy number 890424 and hit Search Directory. Click on the school name when it appears.
   
4. This will take you to a menu list. Select Plan and Products Offered to You, then choose Enroll/Waive.
   
5. You will see "Enroll Here-Undergrad Domestic Students" in blue on the right had side of the screen. Click on this and it will instruct you on the enrollment process.
   
6. You will be requested to enter a 10 digit id number. This can be any number you choose, but you should write it down, because you may need it at a later date.
