This is it; Finals Week is finally here! I hope my tips this semester was not in vain. There is time still to create a study group (or two) for those classes that you find difficult. Get together with your classmates and review the material for your finals - it will help you in the long run.

It is time to focus on the last week of class. Organize all the work you need to complete for your classes. I also cannot help to emphasis on working with study groups. This year's URCAD's guest speaker is fellow alumni, Joshua Barczak '03, MS '06. Josh was a principal graphics developer on the video game, Sid Meier's Civilization V. Come join us on Wednesday, the 25th in UC 312 at 12:00 for a presentation from Josh. See the potential of research at UMBC.

The secret is out: "Study group" isn’t just a euphemism for "party in the library." They may be the source of endless jokes, but study groups can actually be really helpful. Check with your professors about study guides and see if she or he would make an announcement to the class about your group. Remember the more people you gather, the more brains you'll have available to tackle the material.

So we're back from Spring Break and the work load is increasing by the hour! Now is the time to put your time management skills to task. Make sure to prepare well for the papers that will be due at the end of the semester. If you have any issues, take a stroll over to the Writing Center for some assistance - they are there for you!

Its that time of the year again when you have to think about classes for next year. Here's a few things to remember:
Check your registration date and make sure to visit your advisors to get approval and recommendations of what classes to take. Make sure that you are on track with GEP requirements as well.
Also, don't forget about Summer Registration!

So it's that time of the year again when you're longing for Spring Break. Before heading off, remember that you can utilize your time to catch up on school work you may have missed. Plan ahead and dedicate time to get your work done early, so you can have a nice, peaceful break!

By now you are probably well settled into your classes. So why not make an effort to get more involved? Have you considered being a part of the UMBC Student Government Association and run for an office? Maybe you'd like to take part in a school event such as the Karaoke Night or the Movie Night. Take a look around and you'll be sure to find something!

Submission deadline for the Undergraduate Research Award is this Friday, March 2nd! Did you submit a proposal?
Students of all years and disciplines are invited to apply, as long as they will continue at UMBC long enough to complete the proposed work. URA provide up to $1,500 to undergraduate students to support their research or creative work with a UMBC faculty mentor on an original project.

Here are a few tips to prepare for a productive semester: Review your syllabus, Open up your calendar and write down all the important dates (tests, due dates, etc.), Think about when you should be starting assignments, not just when they're due. Also, get familiar with each prof.'s grading system and expectations.
