STEP 1 : Attend New Student Day (optional)
CSI students are encouraged to attend New Student Day on Saturday, April 10th. This event, welcoming new students, is sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation. Please visit their website for more details, as they become available.
STEP 2: Placement Tests (required)
Once you are admitted to the University, you will receive instructions on how to register for math, reading and writing online placement tests. Please remember to prepare and take these tests seriously as the results are used to place you in the appropriate English composition and math courses. It is imperative that you complete these tests as soon as possible. In order for us to receive your scores prior to the start of Summer Bridge, the last testing week available to you is the week between Tuesday, May 11th – Tuesday, May 18th. Please plan and register accordingly.
The placement tests will help you make the best choices in planning your schedule for CSI and beyond. Full details on each placement test, as well as sample tests are provided in the Placement Testing Brochure. If you need special testing accommodations because of a learning or physical disability, please call Student Support Services at 410-455-3250.
STEP 3: University Orientation & Course Selection Day (required)
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation will communicate with you about how to register for an orientation date. As a CSI student you will receive priority for an early orientation date, one which works with our program dates. Please be sure to select the Tuesday, June 22nd date. If this date is not available when you access the online system, please call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation at (410) 455-2292.
STEP 4: CSI Contract (required)
An official contract for the program will be emailed to you. Please stay tuned to your UMBC email for more details.
STEP 5: CSI Summer Bridge Move-in and Kick-off (required)
CSI Summer Bridge begins on Saturday, June 12th. You may begin moving in to Harbor Hall at 12:00 p.m. There is a 20-minute parking limit in the unloading area outside Harbor Hall. After unloading, parents may park on Hilltop Circle.
Students will be given room keys and residence hall guidelines upon entering Harbor Hall. You are responsible for your room key while at Summer Bridge (an additional cost applies for replacing lost keys).
Students and their families will meet on the 7th floor of the Library from 3:30 – 5:30 for an opening dinner and kick-off meeting.
