Where did you go to high school?
Howard High School
How did you hear about the Collegiate Success Institute (CSI) Summer Program?
NODA Internship Website
Why did you want to be the Grad Intern for the CSI Program?
I am incredibly excited to work for the CSI Program this summer because when thinking about my college experience, I wish I had been as fortunate to attend a school with a program like CSI. I think the program provides amazing opportunities for the students to become familiar with campus prior to starting school in the fall, which not all students get the chance to do and is so valuable. I also have a sincere interest in working with summer bridge programs and first year college student transition when I finish my Master’s program.
What was the most interesting thing that happened during your experience in college?
During my entire junior year of college, I studied abroad in Vienna, Austria. As I had never been out of the U.S until that point, it was one of the most challenging but rewarding experiences I have ever been through. I had the ability to study in the birthplace of music and psychology as well as travel to over 10 different countries across Europe. I made connections with other students from the U.S as well as students from Austria, Ireland, and England with whom I am still in contact with today! I would encourage all students to study abroad at least once during their college career because it will change your life for the better!
I also was at Carolina when they won the Men’s Basketball National Championship in 2009. Probably ranks second coolest experience!
What do you think will be your favorite part of the CSI Program this summer?
I think my favorite part of working for CSI this summer will just be forging relationships with the students participating in the program. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and helping in anyway that I can to make their summer a success. I am also really excited to be living in a dorm again!
Would you recommend CSI to new UMBC students?
I think all students should take advantage of any opportunity they have to get a head start in college work because it will allow the student more time to spend in areas of their interest. Not to mention, it is a great way to start the fall already familiar with the school and your local surroundings.
Here are a few interesting things about myself…
