Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When is the Collegiate Success Institute Summer Bridge program?

A: The six-week summer bridge program for 2013 will take place from Saturday, June 15 to Friday, July 26, 2013. Students participating in CSI should plan for a time commitment from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, Mondays through Fridays and selected Saturdays. Students living on campus will have additional time commitments during evening hours and weekends.

Q: How do I apply for CSI?

A: Please see the ApplyNow page on our website for information about how to apply. Applications are now available and due as soon as possible since space in the program is first-come, first-serve. Students may apply for CSI prior to receiving confirmation of their acceptance to UMBC. However, participation in CSI is contingent upon admission to UMBC and students must confirm their admission to UMBC before participating in the program.

Q: What is the deadline to apply for CSI?

A: While there is no firm deadline for CSI, it is highly recommended that students apply early to ensure a space in the program. Students are encouraged to apply by the May 1 admissions deadline to guarantee their spot in the program.

Q: When will I be notified if I have been accepted for the CSI program?

A: You will receive an e-mail notification of receipt of your application starting mid-to-end of March. If you are accepted, you will be asked to respond to this e-mail, confirming your course selection(s), residential status, and acceptance of the offer. More information for admitted students will be forthcoming after you accept your admission.

Q: Will I be able to live on campus during CSI?

A: Yes, CSI students may and are encouraged to live on campus during the six weeks of the program. This is not a requirement for participation in the program, but an option for those who would like to take advantage of this convenience. For more information when deciding to live on campus or commute during CSI, see the Importance Info page.

Q: What types of activities or programs are included in CSI?
