Andrea DeSantis began working at UMBC in the history department in 1997 and accepted a position of an administrative assistant in the Office of Continuing Education, renamed The Division of Professional Education and Training (DPET) in 1998. She served as the executive administrative assistant for the Vice Provost and DPET directors until July 2005 when the university reorganized and established the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE).
DeSantis is now the executive administrative assistant for the Vice Provost and Dean of this office. Her duties include calendaring, scheduling meetings, arranging events, arranging travel, drafting and finalizing correspondence, assisting students and parents with academic issues, processing grade changes, maintaining databases and other duties as assigned. DeSantis also works closely with all the staff in the OUE, and is typically our liaison with other offices on campus. She enjoys interacting with the students and you can often find her volunteering at campus events. She is skilled with spreadsheets, Access databases, PowerPoint presentations, electronic calendar and mail merges, and has website experience.
