Projected Costs

Cited by the Princeton Review as “one of the best value undergraduate institutions” in the country, UMBC offers a range of financial aid and payment options to make it possible for students of all backgrounds to benefit from an outstanding education.

Because UMBC receives financial support from the State of Maryland, residents of Maryland have lower tuition costs than out-of-state students. The cost of room and board varies depending upon a student's choice of residence hall or apartment and meal plan.

Estimated Costs (2009-2010)

Maryland Residents
Tuition and fees: $8,872
Room and board: $9,050
Total projected cost per year: $17,922

Out-of-State Students
Tuition and fees: $18,213
Room and board: $9,050
Total projected cost per year: $27,263

Part-time Students (per credit hour)
Maryland resident tuition: $270
Non-resident tuition: $658
Fees: $106/credit

In addition to the costs listed above, students should budget around $1,500 per year for additional expenses such as books and transportation. Costs are subject to change with Board of Regents approval.
