Readmission

Students previously enrolled at UMBC as undergraduates who have interrupted continuous registration for more than two regular semesters must apply for re-admission.

Readmission is a simple procedure. You should apply early in order to take full advantage of early registration, advising and course availability. If you attended any other school(s) since leaving UMBC, you must submit an official transcript from each college or university attended. Your readmission cannot be approved until all official documents are received.

All applications for readmission are subject to Petition Board review.

Reinstatement

If you were not in good academic standing (cumulative GPA below 2.0) or were academically suspended or dismissed at the end of your last semester at UMBC, you must apply for reinstatement.

Candidates for reinstatement must submit the following:

  • A completed UMBC Undergraduate Admissions Application

  • A written statement explaining the circumstances leading to your poor academic standing and offering a proposed plan of action to remedy past academic deficiencies
  • Official transcripts from all schools attended since your last enrollment at UMBC
  • Additional pertinent information may be submitted at your discretion, such as medical documents, letters of reference or recommendation
  • All university debts must be settled by the appropriate deadlines.
