Success On and Off the Court
Going to the NCAA tournament was a dream come true. Our team made Retriever history as the first team to ever make it to the big dance. I feel like we accomplished something enormous for our university. It was so exciting to see the Retrievers broadcast on ESPN and printed in newspapers across the country. To be a part of something of that magnitude was truly incredible.

I decided UMBC was the right college for me because of the education it to offers, the great location and the overall experience I knew I would have. And as soon as I met my coaches and teammates I fell in love with the team. I am here on a full athletic scholarship, but my coaches and teammates are always stressing the importance of academics. After college basketball there is a whole other world out there, and the team motivates me to do well in the classroom.

I live on campus in Potomac Hall. I've gotten to meet so many new people, who I already know will be life-long friends. What has impressed me most in my first year is the diversity of students and the opportunities we have here. There is truly something for everyone. So far, my experience at UMBC has been tremendous.

Carlee is a freshman guard on the women's basketball team at UMBC. She was the leading scorer in the America East championship game and selected for the All-Tournament team.
