Getting Involved
My first day on campus a couple of brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha asked if I would like to attend a cookout and play football in Erickson courtyard. Trying to make friends at the time, I went out and had a great time. We have done many food drives where we go around neighborhoods distributing bags, letting residents know that we are collecting food. It was fun to pick up all the bags and see how much food we had gathered. When all the bags were collected, we weighed them to see how many pounds of food we gathered to donate to the North American Food Drive. To help out those in need and hang out with a great group of guys always leads to an exciting experience.

In addition to Lambda Chi Alpha, I am involved with intramural sports and the Korean Student Association. Since I was adopted by non-Korean parents, the KSA was a way to learn more about my culture. I play flag football, arena football, indoor and outdoor soccer, and whiffleball. My teams haven't won any championships yet, but my soccer team is undefeated now and will hopefully win the championship at the end of the season. Regardless, the greatest benefit of being so involved on campus is meeting other students and taking advantage of everything the university has to offer.

Scott Johnson is majoring in computer science. When he graduates from UMBC he hopes to attend graduate school while working in his field.
