Anura Desai - Health Administration and Policy
My project compared health and immigration policies in the U.S. and Switzerland by studying tuberculosis rates among immigrants. I'm interested in pursuing a career in international public health, so when UMBC's health administration policy program put together this international field research project, I jumped at the chance to get involved.
I visited the World Health Organization, the International Red Cross and a refugee camp where I interviewed political asylum seekers. And, of course, I had the opportunity to experience Swiss culture first hand. What an incredible experience!
