Brandi Jackson - Mechanical Engineering
When a professor told me about research opportunities at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center it was a dream come true. I worked with a team to develop a satellite that would orbit the moon. This project allowed me to experience hands-on what NASA engineers go through to design a successful mission.
Through my work with NASA, I learned to collaborate with a team of people who all have different concerns in order to design a successful mission. Each of the team members was in charge of one subsystem and we had one week to work together to present a preliminary look at the satellite. I was in charge of the thermal subsystem. I made contacts in aerospace engineering and prepared for the tight time schedules I will be dealing with in my field.
