The Honors College at UMBC is a selective community of high-achieving students. Members of the Honors College enjoy benefits including a special honors orientation, Honors College advising, specially designed courses with limited enrollment, the Honors College Visiting Scholar Program, special session research, travel-study scholarship assistance and trips to national conferences.
The standards set by the Honors College are high and are expected to be maintained. You must maintain a 3.25 GPA and complete at least one honors course per semester until you have 90 overall credits. To graduate with a Certificate of General Honors, there are other course requirements as well as a required learning experience (university sanctioned research, internship, study abroad program or service learning).
Honors College students gain the enlightened perspective that comes with the exploration of challenging ideas from history, philosophy, art, science and technology.
