Kriste Belt - Music with a concentration in vocal performance

I've been involved in independent study projects for the last two years. This last year I focused on intense study of two pieces for soprano, oboe and harpsichord by George F. Handel, titled "Meine Seele Hort im Sehen," and "Das zitternde Gianzen der spielenden Wellen." I have been working on both these pieces with the music department's Collegium Musicum Ensemble for more than a year. This past semester I was able to really delve into them from a more scholarly point of view.

Evaluating the subtle nuances between the three musical parts was extraordinarily interesting. I learned how to listen closely to the other parts around me, and also how much fun it can be for there to be a call and response musical gesture between my voice and a wind instrument such as the oboe. The experience has really helped me grow as a musician and performer.
