Linehan Artist Scholars Program

In a strong liberal arts setting, scholars receive an honors education in their chosen specialty within a community of multidisciplinary artists. Linehan Artist Scholars have opportunities to perform and exhibit in a range of venues - UMBC galleries, in resident ensembles and companies, with guest artists and in student productions. A generous gift from Earl and Darielle Linehan supports the Linehan Artist Scholars Program.

Award Benefits and Application

Awards range from $5,000-$22,000 per year for four years. Students should submit an application for undergraduate admission, a separate scholarship application with two letters of recommendation, one from someone familiar with the student's accomplishments in the arts and one from someone familiar with the student's academic work. Applicants also undergo a portfolio review or audition. Students are encouraged to apply by the early action admissions deadline of November 1 and must submit their completed scholarship application and supporting materials (including portfolios for visual arts candidates) by January 1. Final award decisions are announced no later than March 31.
