Learn more about Simonne's story and find out what our students are doing. |

I had the opportunity to work in several research laboratories on campus in the fields of biochemistry and cancer biology. This gave me the skills necessary to compete for internships at major pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, Inc. I spent several summers at Pfizer's Global Research and Development working in the Antibacterials, Immunology and Cancer Department. It was a way to apply many things I have learned to real-life situations. I was most interested in the vast amount of resources that companies must invest toward pharmaceutical research in order to develop drugs that are safe, effective and financially viable.
Participating in advanced technical research, both in academia and industry, has given me an accurate picture of what a modern day science career involves. I am applying for a Fulbright Fellowship and hope to use that to continue my studies in Malaysia.
Anura participated in an international project that landed her in Switzerland.
