Combining courses in political science and economics, I created my own major in Interdisciplinary Studies: International Diplomacy and Economic Development. My research involves the effect of nationless people on the countries in which they reside.
I am looking into the socioeconomic impact of giving nationless people a country of their own versus forcing them to assimilate in the state in which they currently reside. The faculty at UMBC have shown me how to look at the issues I am studying from the perspectives of different disciplines. I have worked with the Baltimore Council of Foreign Affairs and met many speakers they have hosted including the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States. I plan to pursue a career in international relations and to one day work as a peace ambassador.
