Real-World Research

Participating in an independent research project when you are in college singles you out from the pack on graduate school and job applications and enables you to learn on a whole new level. Things you memorized in the classroom are no longer just abstract concepts. In this way independent research can spark a lifelong interest, and give you the key to knowing whether a professional path is right for you.

At UMBC, we back up our commitment to undergraduate research with grant awards and faculty support, so that research can be a part of any undergraduate's learning experience. Each spring, student researchers have an opportunity to present their work at Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement Day.
