Sports & Recreation

UMBC has an active intramural and club sports program. Students find time to relax and unwind in activities such as flag football, floor hockey, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. The 24 sport clubs range from men's and women's lacrosse, and rugby, to martial arts, crew, wrestling, ice hockey, ultimate Frisbee, sailing and more.

The Retriever Activities Center (RAC) provides plenty of opportunity for open recreation. The RAC houses a main gymnasium, multipurpose aerobics room, state-of-the-art cardio area, weight room, indoor and outdoor Olympic size pools, indoor track, basketball courts, and locker facilities.

Outdoors, UMBC has six tennis courts with lights; softball, flag football and soccer fields; volleyball and basketball courts and a 400-meter outdoor track with artificial turf field.

Ultimate Frisbee

UMBC's intramural sports includes such favorites as ultimate Frisbee, flag football and beach volleyball.

Sailing Club

The sailing club competes regularly and is consistently top-ranked in the Middle Atlantic Sailing Association.
