Gary MarinoSenior Vice President & General Manager Senior vice president, PayPal and general manager of Bill Me Later, Gary Marino built a leading alternative payments business earning recognition and awards such as: Entrepreneur of the Year, Inc. Magazine’s Top 50 (no.4), Red Herring’s Fast 50 (no.3) and was featured in magazines such as Business Week, Fortune, Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Ultimately, in 2008, Bill Me Later was acquired by eBay’s PayPal unit for nearly $1 billion, in the largest venture funded deal of the year. Prior to founding Bill Me Later, Gary spent nearly 20 years in banking and held a number of executive positions at the largest credit card issuer in the world. At Bank One (JPMorgan Chase), Gary earned the unique position as both Chief Credit Officer (CCO) and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), the only executive in the U.S. to ever hold both titles. During this time Gary was awarded Marketer of the Year in Banking. Gary also held numerous positions in his 13 year career with Citibank’s North American and European Bankcard divisions, including Chief Credit Officer and Member of the Bankcard Executive Planning Council. Gary’s knowledge of credit markets and consumer marketing is regularly sought after by businesses and universities; he recently spoke at MIT Sloan Graduate School and the University of Austin McCombs School of Business and has upcoming speaking engagements at Loyola Sellinger School of Business and UMBC. Gary was also a speaker in July 2008 at the renowned Sun Valley Conference and over the last few years has spoken at the Morgan Stanley Technology Conference, Goldman Sachs Technology Conference and at the annual meeting of the National Retailer Federation. |
