INCOMING UMBC STUDENTS

Winter Session gives incoming freshmen and transfer students the opportunity to get familiar with the campus, learn from top-rated faculty, adapt to college life and meet new people.

During winter session, you can earn up to 4.5 credits.  To register for more than 4.5 credits, approval is needed.

 

Admissions

  • Students already admitted for spring 2013 are eligible to attend winter session. 

  • Before registering, students will need to contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to change their semester start date to winter 2013.

  • Academic Advising is highly recommended.

 

Check List

  • Change semester start date through Undergraduate Admission

  • Activate myUMBC account 

  • Register for courses online (October 29 - January 1) through myUMBC.

  • Get a parking permit, and review directions to UMBC and campus map
    Please note: Parking permits should be secured several weeks in advance, as they will not be processed during winter break (December 21 through January 2).

  • Obtain a campus card (student ID)
    The UMBC Campus Card Office is located on the ground floor of the University Center.

  • Pay student bill

  • Purchase textbooks

    Winter session textbooks are available in December at the UMBC Bookstore or can be ordered online. Textbooks, in the same condition as purchased, can be returned for a full refund with a sales receipt until January 8.

  • Verify class location and meeting times

  • Check final grades

  • If you need to order a transcript, please follow these directions from the Registrar's Office
