The UMBC Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program is designed to recruit and support undergraduate and graduate students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to pursue teaching careers in secondary (middle and high school) education.

Funded by the National Science Foundation, the UMBC Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program offers two FREE education course (totaling 6 credit hours) during the summer prior to the start of the junior year. The summer courses are uniquely designed to provide undergraduate students with hands-on field experiences working with middle and high school students.

After the summer experience students have the option to apply for the scholarship program. Once accepted, "Noyce Scholars" receive a stipend to help cover tuition and fees while pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in teaching in the areas of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.

Noyce Scholars complete the program once they fulfill their obligation to teach in a high-needs school after graduation. Noyce Scholars must teach two years for every year of scholarship received.
