Registration and a Continental Breakfast are set from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. and includes: Greetings from Graduate Dean, Charles Caramello; and from 9:10 to 9:30 a.m., Associate Dean Johnetta Davis will present the Welcome to the /University of Maryland – Your Graduate Education Partner/. There will be a major workshop in the morning: from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Donald Asher, author of the best-selling book:_ Graduate Admissions Essays: Write Your Way Into the Graduate School of Your Choice_, will present /Preparing a Competitive Graduate Application and Financing Graduate Education/. During the buffet luncheon, from 11:45 to 1:00 p.m., a panel of currently enrolled, happy and highly motivated graduate students will provide a stimulating discussion on /Succeeding and Prospering in Graduate School/. From 1:00 to 2:15 p.m., we will hold /College Information Sessions/ at which
representatives from UM graduate departments will give an overview of each program and answer questions about studying here. From 2:30 to 3:45 p.m., concurrent workshops on summer research opportunities and effective strategies for scoring well on each of the following
standardized tests will be provided: /GRE, GMAT, LSAT and MCAT and a Professional Development Session/. The closing session is from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. where students may ask final questions, evaluate the program and have a chance to win 50% off of the price of each of the standardized test preparation courses provided by Princeton Review and Kaplan Educational Centers and other door prizes. From 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., students will have the opportunity to visit selected research centers and laboratories or go on a campus tour.


Dependable Strengths for Grad Students

Dependable Strengths is a two-part seminar which provides a safe place for graduate-level students to consider career possibilities inside and outside academia. Participants explore "good experiences" for patterns of strengths; explore career paths congruent with strengths; create a report that reflects strengths; learn to use the report to make connections and to improve interviews.
