The Career Services Center is looking for a part time Graphic Design Students Assistant for the Fall of 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters. Seeking a Visual Arts or Imaging and Digital Arts major, or an individual familiar with graphic design, who would like to obtain some hands-on experience. This position offers a chance to design the marketing materials for most of the Centers workshops, services, and major events - a great way to build your portfolio and gain applied experience. These materials include: flyers, posters, table tents, billboards, and advertisements which are publicized throughout campus and in The Retriever. In addition, the incumbent will work closely with staff to ensure designs reach target populations. You will also assist CSC, as needed, with implementation of marketing efforts. The hours are flexible. You will be given supervision and instructions of format sizes, print quality limitations and assignment parameters. In addition, some outreach to your fellow students, through a variety of events and activities, will compliment this position.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be:
-Sophomore level or higher by Fall 2008
-Passed equivalent basic design, text formatting and print layout courses
-Understand differences between designing in black and white vs. color
-Able to design attention-grabbing, legible marketing materials
-Creative, with a professional and polished aesthetic
-Familiar with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
-Reliable and able to meet weekly deadlines
-Ability to design according to CSC's specifications & preferences
-Available for training in August
