MedImmune has a new opportunity for a Associate Scientist I/II in the Characterization Group within the Analytical Biochemistry Department. The successful candidate will carry out development of characterization methods for biopharmaceutical products such as monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins and vaccines. She/he will support testing of products by various methods including light obscuration, flow microscopy, light scattering, FTIR and SEM-EDX. The candidate will also be expected to be familiar with SOP and GLP requirements. The candidate will make detailed experimental observations, review and analyze data, and interpret experimental results. He/she will need to be able to solve technical problems using an experimental approach and develop new characterization methods. The candidate will present and discuss experimental results at group/project team meetings and scientific conferences. Finally, he/she must be able to work in a team structure and interface with different research and development departments.

The candidate will perform routine sample analysis and develop novel separation and identification assays utilizing state-of-the-art technologies. The candidate will be responsible for characterization and purity determination of antibodies using electrophoresis, Western blotting, affinity chromatography, FPLC and ELISA. Furthermore, the candidate will evaluate new assay technologies and develop novel detection and identification assays.
Educational Requirements: Bachelors degree in biotechnology, biochemistry or related discipline with 0-3 years relevant working experience.

MedImmune, Inc. has an exciting position available in the Electrophoresis/Biological Assay group in the Analytical Biochemistry Department in our Gaithersburg, MD headquarters. The candidate will develop novel separation and identification assays utilizing state-of-the-art technologies. The candidate will be responsible for separation, characterization and identification of proteins and antibodies using electrophoresis methods, with particular focus on two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DGE) methods. In addition, the candidate will evaluate new separation technologies and develop novel detection and identification assays.
