It Takes A Team: To Fight Generics

Generic medications are safe, cost-effective substitutes for expensive brand-name drugs.

Switching to generics saves money for individuals and for the health care system as a whole.

Naturally, the big drug companies see generics as a threat to their profits.

The Medicare Part D program (as confusing as it is)creates for the consumer a strong economic incentive to use generics. In 2008 many more of the stand alone plans are requiring step therapy as a prerequisite for reimbursement. Generics are cheaper and help the consumer spend less trying to avoid reaching the gaps in coverage.
