The UMBC CSC will host two day workshop helps you to do just that! Unlike other career assessments and workshops, you'll be able to assess your strengths and identify what you enjoy, things that you do well and events or experiences in which you take pride. The workshop is designed for alumni who are seeking a career change, have been downsized from their current profession or are simply interested in exploring how they might enhance their current employment situation. USPTO Virtual Career Fair

The US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) will host a nation-wide Virtual Career Fair for Patent Examiners from April 1st through April 29th.

USPTO has an aggressive goal to hire 1200 engineers and scientists for the full time position of Patent Examiner this year.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has been serving the economic interests of America for more than 200 years. We are responsible for granting US intellectual property rights for patents and trademarks. Our efforts have provided inventors exclusive rights over their discoveries. It's an effort that continues to contribute to a strong global economy, to encourage investment in innovation and to cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit for the 21st century.

What makes this career really exciting? Patent Examiner expertise focuses on analyzing
advanced, innovative and complex concepts. Patent Examiners have a well-defined career path that provides specific milestones to reach for while making sustained progress throughout their career.

Seeking candidates with a minimum of a four-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and Physics are encouraged to visit the website to register and meet with current patent examiners and interview with Supervisor Patent Examiners.

NJ Career Day

NEW JERSEY COLLEGIATE CAREER DAY

NJ Collegiate Career Day is the largest college job fair in the state brings together New Jersey employers with college students and graduates seeking full time jobs and internships. Experienced candidates are also welcome!

250 employers will have opportunities in most career fields and academic majors, including liberal arts, business, science and technical areas. (Some careers are generally not represented, such as education, advertising, public relations and the media.)

Open to students and graduates from any college or university, all degree levels and majors, who wish to work in New Jersey. Resume submission is not required to attend the event, but is required to participate in the electronic resume database. Dress for interviewing and bring plenty of resumes. There is no fee!

Need help with your Resume?
Walk-in appointments are held in the Career Services Center (Math/Psych 204) each weekday from 2-4pm. Walk-ins are short, 15-minute meetings- ideal for quick questions and resume critiques.

Need to talk about bigger career concerns, graduate school or getting a job after graduation?

Career Services Center advising appointments are a perfect opportunity to meet with a career specialist who can help you figure out what’s right. These longer appointments (typically an hour) can be scheduled in person or by phone (410-455-2216).
