National Sickle Cell Awareness Month Seeks Volunteers

September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month. Next week, from September 17-22, the National Institutes of Health Sickle Cell Program and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America will hold their joint convention at the Washington Hilton & Towers. This meeting brings together an international cadre of researchers in the biological, medical, and social sciences who are all united in finding ways to improve the quality of life of individuals with sickle cell disease.

There is a great need for volunteers who can assist as audio-visual technical assistants, greeters, timekeepers, or registration hosts.

If you are interested in either of these capacities - even if for only a few hours - the assistance would be greatly appreciated by the conference organizers.
Please contact Mrs. Christine Corbin directly; she can be reached by phone at 410-528-1555 or via email at ccorbin@sicklecelldisease.org.
