Siemens Building Technology Technical Intern - Summer 2009 Position

The SBT Intern-Technical position is designed to provide a student with an excellent, hands-on experience in construction and project management. This internship requires that the student be studying towards a degree in disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, etc. Additional information is provided below the break.

The Intern will complete assigned tasks including learning and providing field technical support, modifying AutoCAD drawings and/or graphics, working out sequences of operation, developing bills of materials, and engineering database updates to help generate quality engineering submittals for and under the guidance of other Engineers. May assist Engineers and Specialists to perform job start up, checkout, and troubleshooting for systems and service jobs. Provides program or project support which may include collection and analysis of data, creation and formal presentation of drafts, reports, proposals, charts, testing results and other engineering related documentation. The SBT Intern, under close supervision, will be assigned specific job tasks and projects during the internship period. Job assignments may include, but are not limited to composing, preparation of reports, research,
proposals, charts, testing and a variety of correspondence using appropriate PC-based software packages for word processing, presentation, and database and spreadsheet applications. Supports field operations in project and/or program
assignments including providing technical, database, drafting and other engineering related tasks. Helps others plan, organize and implement project
activities. Supports department or district activities (e.g. manufacturing
process improvements, auto-cad design, conducts performance testing, field project
support etc.) to update, organize, and provide engineering support as needed.
Upon internship completion, creates and delivers final project assignment presentation to various management, human resources staff and other internship participants.

Desired Qualifications:
Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must display an ability to communicate a clear understanding of their subject matter and offer informed suggestions to improve processes; respect individual differences and utilize the diverse thinking and contributions of all team members/employees.
