Awesome Web Development Position! $30 per hour!

WebMechanix is looking for a Web Development RockStar. Is it you?

Have you ever started your own website, or helped friends or family with theirs? Have you heard of things like “HTML”, “CSS”, or “domain name servers”? Are you looking for some training to take you natural web development aptitude to the next level? Do you like money, fun, learning valuable skills, and meeting important people? Would you like to earn a lot of money working almost entirely on your computer?

RockStar Job Description

We are bringing in 1-2 smart college RockStars to help us work with our expanding client base. The position will consist of a variety of different types of activities and is a bit difficult to define in just a brief job description.

The main activities will be learning and experimenting with the technical side of effective online marketing, and then actually helping us do it for clients. Things like HTML and CSS will be a major part of the experience, but there are many other aspects as well.

For instance, there will likely be a good bit of reading, writing, and interfacing with clients as well. Additionally, you may end up becoming an expert at things like Google Adwords, Facebook marketing, search engine optimization, and copy writing. You will also be learning about business by participating in strategy meetings, going on meeting with existing and potential clients, and generally just learning a lot about this fast-changing and lucrative industry.

Since we’re a startup tech firm, every day is fun and different and for this reason, it’s difficult to define exactly what you will be doing.

One day you may be learning the ins and outs of internet marketing, the next you may be out at a client’s office shooting a YouTube video, and then the next day you may find yourself sitting in on a sales meeting with a couple of CEOs. You will get experience in everything from sales and marketing, to finance and operations, to human resources and research and development. It will be a mixture of time spent working here in our office as part of our team, and time spent working independently, which you can do at your house, the Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, or Puerto Rico (anywhere that you have access to the internet).

This is an incredible opportunity for the right candidate. Companies are hiring SEOs (people who know SEO) like crazy. http://tinyurl.com/llx4ay . And they definitely don’t teach it in school. The only way to learn SEO is to attend expensive seminars, teach yourself, or learn it from somebody like us.

About WebMechanix

WebMechanix is a start-up technology marketing firm in Ellicott City, MD that helps companies gain visibility online. Specifically, we specialize in a thing called “Search Engine Optimization,” which leads to more web visitors for our clients, more sales, and ultimately higher revenues.

The office that we work in is fast-paced and goal-oriented yet casual and relaxed at the same time. We focus very intently on doing good work and satisfying our clients. You can expect to learn most of our secrets. That is, how we actually generate the results that we get, which is a really valuable thing to know.

The training program will consist of about two weeks of working with the companies leadership team to pretty much train you from the ground up—to learn more about the most basic and important skills, and the way we do things.

This is a ridiculous opportunity for the right type of candidate, namely because the skills you will be learning are incredibly valuable to almost any company, and learning them on your own is very difficult, sometimes not possible. Once you’re good though, companies will gladly pay you upwards of $80/hour.

Requirements & Qualifications

No formal experience is required. The candidate must be savvy on the internet, particularly from a technical standpoint. Some working knowledge of HTML and CSS will be very helpful, as well as some ability to write. They must also have their own transportation and functioning laptop computer.

Most importantly, though, we are looking for a web development RockStar. That means somebody that knows a bit about web development technically, somebody that likes web development, or somebody that really wants to break into online development badly. Somebody who is coachable and teachable with a high level of self-confidence that gets good ideas or has a knack for creativity and thinking outside the box would be ideal.

Since some client interaction will inevitably take place, we need our RockStar to be presentable (i.e. well-groomed, hygienic) and able to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
If you feel like you meet those qualifications, we would like to hear from you.

Compensation

The main form of compensation will be academic credit. Also, it will be a phenomenal resume builder, and you will add several dozen very important and powerful contacts to your professional network.

Depending on how much potential you have and how much value you’re able to add to our operation, there could be some cash compensation involved also. Also, depending on how quickly you learn and how smart you are, there may be an employment opportunity waiting for you when you graduate.
