The Nature Conservancy Diversity Summer Internship Program

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) hires students to fill over forty paid internship positions during a 10-week (June 6, 2011 thru August 12, 2011) summer internship. This is a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between what is learned in the classroom and work done in the world of conservation to promote a sustainable planet. TNC offers internships in the following areas: Conservation/Environmental Studies; Science; Information Technology; Marketing/Business; Marketing (Photo editing/Production Assistant); Communications; MBA Finance; Policy; Government Relations; Audit; Human Resources; Information Technology (Computer Science); and Philanthropy.

The Diversity Internship Program is designed to help TNC attract individuals from a variety of socio-cultural experiences and will match qualified and enthusiastic college and university students with internships suited to their area of study. Our goal is for each intern to have a high- quality experience, a committed mentor, and a relevant project that provides them with additional skills and training. Interns begin the program with an orientation retreat (travel expenses covered) in which TNC leaders and students gather and share educational, professional, and career experiences. In addition to mentoring, the intern program will provide an outstanding network of professionals to draw on in future years. We hired 22 summer interns in 2009 and 37 summer interns in 2010. We will continue to expand the Diversity Internship Program over time and reach greater numbers of students around the world, contributing to the diversity, size, and effectiveness of the global conservation workforce.
