Public History Students Help Heal Wounds in Baltimore

Dr. Denise Meringolo partnered with public historian Mary Rizzo for a wonderful class in Fall 2010. Mary wrote about the experience on the National Council for Public History blog.
The project focused on Baltimore's Hampden neighborhood. Denise and her students provided an important bridge for healing some of the neighborhoods open wounds through oral history. The class was partially funded with a CAHSS Kauffman Entreprenership Grant.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the project.

Internship-Naval History and Heritage Center

Interested in working in the Department of Defense or getting your foot in the door in the Federal Government? The following internship is a great opportunity.
The Naval History and Heritage Center is located at the Washington DC Navy Yard and offers over 30 different tracks that require 160 hours. This program accepts applicants year-round (although Summer is the preferred time as they will be able to meet other interns from across the country and globe). I have posted the position on the Shriver Center website, but
I am also willing to speak to any students who are interested as I have completed two internships at the Navy Yard.

A pdf application can be found at: http://www.umbc.edu/history/Intern-Application-NHHC.pdf
Further information may be found at
