New Database: ArchiveGrid

The library is pleased to announce that we now have access to OCLC's ArchiveGrid.

ArchiveGrid is a database for searching through historical documents, personal papers, and family histories held in archives around the world. Thousands of libraries, museums, and archives have contributed nearly a million collection descriptions. Records include collection descriptions, content notes, links to Finding Aids (if available) and contact information.

For off-campus access, please use research port. Or you can login via VPN first (http://vpn.umbc.edu).

CAMIO highlights the creative output of cultures around the world, from prehistoric to contemporary times, and covering the complete range of expressive forms. CAMIO is licensed for use by students, faculty, and researchers at subscribing institutions. Images may be used for educational and research purposes if properly credited. New Database: OAIster

The library now has access to the OAIster catalog of digital resources.

OAIster provides access to these digital resources by "harvesting" their descriptive records using the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting. (The Open Archives Initiative is not the same thing as the Open Access movement.) These resources, often hidden from search engine users behind web scripts, are known as the "deep web." The owners of these resources share them with the world using OAI-PMH. OAIster reveals these digital resources in an easy-to-use, searchable interface.

For off-campus access, please use research port, or login via VPN first (http://vpn.umbc.edu).
