New Baltimore Jesuit High School Values UMBC Support

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is a Catholic, independent, coeducational, college preparatory school for students from families of modest means in Baltimore. As a family, Cristo Rey Jesuit embraces a student body of Baltimore’s racial, religious and ethnic diversity.

Sponsored by the Maryland Province Jesuits, the school offers a strong academic and spiritual program integrated with a Corporate Internship Program in a safe, disciplined and nurturing environment. The goal of Cristo Rey Jesuit is to prepare students for higher education and for the workplace.

They are in their first year of implementation with 120 9th graders. Cristo Rey Jesuit needs help with a range of activities, including but not limited to: tutoring both during and after school in all subjects, volunteer Registered Nurses in afternoons, and athletic assistance after school.

The school is located in East Baltimore, 20+ minutes from UMBC. For more info, visit their website at http://www.cristoreybalt.org. As a sanctioned service-learning opportunity, participating students will receive a transcript notation recognizing their efforts. For an application, contact Lori Hardesty, Program Coordinator of K-16 Service-Learning Partnerships, lhardesty@umbc.edu or (410) 455-2493.
