Teach for America

Of the 13 million children growing up in poverty, only half will graduate from high school. Those that do graduate will perform on average at an 8th grade level.

YOU can change this.

Teach For America is a national nonprofit trying to close the achievement gap between low- and high-income school districts. We hire candidates from all majors and backgrounds for two years, during which time they receive full salary and benefits, as well as student loan deferment and $9,450 in AmeriCorps grants to pay back student loans or pursue another degree. Our goal is to empower leaders to further develop their skills while working to give children in low-income communities an excellent education. After the corps, Teach For America alumni apply their leadership skills and experience to create change in all sectors using our network of alumni and our partnerships with over 100 graduate, medical and law schools and over 20 top employers, including GE, Google, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Wachovia.

Want to know more about Teach For America and how YOU can get involved?

Join us on Wednesday, November 19th at 7:30pm for an Information Session via conference call to hear from Teach For America alumni about their experiences with the program and the paths they’ve gone on to pursue. To listen in, dial (605) 990-0111 and access code 548752# when prompted.

To RSVP to the conference call or for more information, email Recruitment Associate Gwen Hopkins at Gwendolyn.Hopkins@TeachForAmerica.org.
