CitiStat is a Mayoral management service designed to utilize intensive performance measurement of municipal agencies. The office is responsible for developing performance measurements for a portfolio of City agencies and identifying opportunities to make City services better, faster and cheaper. CitiStat is responsible for knowing whether an agency is meeting the Mayor’s goals as well as presenting graphical, statistical or pictorial representations of performance for executive review. The role of a CitiStat team-member comprises functions similar to that of an auditor, investigator, supervisor, project manager and consultant.
CitiStat is seeking a UMBC undergraduate, graduate or alumni with strong experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and ArcView software to fill the part-time position of GIS Analyst. Full-time and/or summer employment opportunities may develop. Candidates must possess a keen ability to create maps upon request as well as to assist CitiStat analysts and other mayoral staff in geographically representing or investigating social conditions relating to a wide variety of government concerns including crime, health, sanitation, transportation and many others. Candidates must be independent and creative thinkers motivated to meaningfully participate in producing sound policies for the citizens of Baltimore City. GIS majors preferred but not required.
