Governor's Office of Crime Control & Prevention seeks Policy Interns $15 per hour
The Governor's Office of Crime Control & Prevention (GOCCP) is seeking a talented undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in criminal justice. GOCCP is Maryland's one stop shop for resources to improve public safety. At GOCCP, the Intern will experience the inner workings of state government from the vantage point of the Executive branch. The Intern will work to address current public safety policy challenges and will be tasked with managing at least one project during the summer.
Projects are to be completed under the direction of the Policy, Research & Training Division (PRT) Chief and a team of Policy and Statistical Analysts. PRT develops, implements, and evaluates State policy, technology and legislation that align with the priorities of the O’Malley-Brown Administration. Policy, research, and training solutions originate from identified needs of local stakeholders and are developed in collaboration with the Maryland Statistical Analysis Center to effectively measure results. Summer projects will involve research, writing, and collaboration with criminal justice stakeholders including GOCCP's local and federal partners.
Selection will be based on an applicant's educational and professional background, a demonstrated interest in public service, and the needs of GOCCP. Consideration will be given to experience with government work, policy analysis, legal research and writing, and communications.
The internship will run for three months – June, July, August and payment is $15/per hour.
