The Analyst Program:
The Analyst Program is a several week classroom training program providing a broad understanding of the financial services industry, the products and services Morgan Stanley delivers to our clients, and the basics of how the Operations Division is organized and delivers on its mission. Your training will focus on topics such as: Morgan Stanley’s business lines, the life of a trade, the products we provide our clients, technical systems used in the division, risk management and control, the regulatory environment, and professional skills development.

What We Look For

Many soon-to-be and new graduates don't know what they're going to do come commencement. Luckily, help is close at hand! UMBC's Career Services Center will be holding a two day workshop (Thursday, January 15 and Friday, January 16, 2009 from 9am-5pm) focusing on a non-traditional job search process that will open up new opportunities and allow you to find not just a job to pay the bills, but work that you love!

This two day workshop helps you to do just that! Unlike other career assessments and workshops, you'll be able to assess your strengths and identify what you enjoy, things that you do well and events or experiences in which you take pride. It motivates you to succeed. Ultimately by learning more about yourself through this process, you open up new opportunities.

The focus in this workshop is a non-traditional job search process. Through guided group discussions, participants will:

* Identify what you are good at and what you love to do
* Learn to articulate your worth to an employer
* Learn to make contacts whenever you may want them
* Succeed in interviews
* Work with a support team to increase self-confidence
* Develop a tool to help you be remembered and referred

Knowing what you're good at and love to do is key to getting employers to hire you. This workshop will allow you to uncover, believe in, and effectively communicate your true strengths.

Spring 2009 Campus Visitation Program (CVP), sponsored by The Office of Graduate Minority Programs (OGMP). This is an excellent opportunity for MARC Scholars who are ready to apply for a graduate program.

Campus Visitation takes place February 19-20, 2009 at the University of Florida’s Reitz Union. The Office of Graduate Minority Programs will provide your hotel accommodations, some meals, and will reimburse up to $100 worth of travel expenses to eligible attendees.

During the visitation students will have the opportunity to meet faculty and staff in their academic fields and take a tour of their departments’ academic facilities. There will also be information panels and workshops to address questions and issues concerning graduate education at the University of Florida.

To apply, students must submit a CVP application and undergraduate transcript(s) to OGMP. The application deadline* *is* January 10, 2009. *

UMBC Career Center's Job Survey - It's Legit!

UMBC students registered for the Fall 2008 semester will be receiving an email soon asking them to complete a brief, online survey. The Career Services Center is interested in learning if students worked in part-time positions during the Fall 2008 semester and if so where they were working; or if not, where they may be interested in working during future semesters at UMBC.
