As of April 7, 2008, all published articles arising from direct NIH funds are to be submitted to PubMed Central within 12 months of date of publication. This, in turn, requires UMBC authors to take explicit measures in dealing with publishers, to retain sufficient rights under copyright law to make the required submissions.
