Union of Concerned Scientists Sustainable Agriculture Internship
Internship dates: June 2009-August 2009 (3-month internship, flexible dates)

The UCS Food and Environment Program seeks an intern for three months, beginning in June 2009. Working primarily with our outreach coordinator, the intern will assist in implementing the field efforts associated with our campaign to pass federal legislation on the overuse of antibiotics in animal feed. The intern may also be called on to carry out other campaign tasks, as needed, such as recruiting organizations from around the country to support the legislation or to renew their support.

Candidates interested in public policy, sustainable agriculture, and environmental issues are encouraged to apply. We will consider applicants with a wide variety of backgrounds. Candidates with interest and education in political science, agriculture, environmental science, and public health, or with a background in political campaigns/organizing efforts are especially encouraged to apply.

Basic qualifications: Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, and proficiency with computers.

Education requirements: Enrolled as an undergraduate or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

Hours and pay: 35 hours/week; monthly pay commensurate with experience and training.
